The Simple Leaf Tea is a family run business based in Chicago, Illinois. We founded the company in 2006 because we thought gourmet tea was getting far too complicated for its own good. With hundreds of brands, and countless teas to choose from, things can sometimes get a little overwhelming. So we thought we’d try a different approach.

We sell 14 teas. That’s it. We didn’t only choose these teas because of their taste — and we think they are all outstanding in their own right — but because they also made us appreciate the amazing stories they brought with them. So whether we are tasting Madan’s tea or Binod’s, it’s the personal connections with the source that make each sip special. We hope it does for you too.

We buy all our teas directly from growers. Our buyer, Dipu, puts his 40 years of professional tasting experience to good use by seeking out hidden gems across South Asia. So you can be sure that we will always stand by our promise: to do everything we can to delight you with the freshest and most distinctive loose leaf teas we can find. Oh, and to keep things as simple as possible.
