Mountain Malt

Indian Black Tea, Gingia Estate, Assam

Mountain Malt, from the Gingia tea estate, is one of our most popular breakfast teas. The leaves are tightly rolled (in India, leaves rolled in this way are called BPS - Broken Pekoe Souchong), and produce a robust, complex liquor that will entice even coffee lovers. While some may find Assam teas a little too strong for their taste, we think Mountain Malt displays just the right balance of strength and flavor. It has an abundance of that Assam malt flavor that makes the region so famous. Mountain Malt is best enjoyed plain (it produces a bright amber liquor as shown in the photos), or if you prefer, you can add a dash of milk and a little sweetener for a more chai-like experience. Enjoy hot or iced.

A tea for tea lovers

I used to think it was a coffee drinker's world - but your tea has even some of the most avid coffee drinkers I know thinking twice about it. I enjoy mountain malt the best so far.

Yummy breakfast tea

Mountain Malt is a yummy breakfast tea that I've been enjoying every day with my cereal. I don't add milk to it (don't think it needs milk) and drink 2-3 cups in the morning before work. I keep a pouch with me at all times for the office. Overall, I have found the simple leaf to be a pleasant company to buy from. I particularly like the points program, which means I'll be coming back.

The best breakfast tea

Reminds me of India. A really tasty assam tea.

Good quality tea - just a bit on the strong side

Overall, this is an EXCELLENT assam tea. I knew it would be strong, but I guess I didn't bargain for it being SO strong. I can tell it is fresh, and has been stored well. Great tea, but I'll stick to my Darjeeling greens and blacks :)

A lovely tea

Apologies for the last incomplete review. What I meant to say was...Mountain Malt is a lovely strong tea. I drink it every morning - yes, I do add milk. A great waker upper.

A very tasty strong tea.

this is a vey well made Asam tea. Rich and malty, with just the right strength without being overpowering. A perfectly acceptable morning cuppa.

This is one of the finest Assam teas I have tried. I didn't even know they made BPS assams. Great choice, and great delivery. I've found my source for tea.
